While I never did hear a Vendetta, I did hear a Dennesen (probably the first air-bearing tonearm) JC-80 phono stage. It was driving a Rowland Research amp directly and (I think) some "WATT clones". Freaked me right out. I think that HP got it wrong - for whatever reason.
