It is definitely a tricky situation in which to be. On the one hand, I personally don't value each reviewer's opinion equally. On the other hand it can take a year or more of reading reviews to figure out which ones tend to reflect my experiences the closest.
It's hard to lose interesting reviewers, from ST to WP to SM to JM to JGH. All I can say is "hats off" to you, as it is *not* an easy job and not one I could do. Some reviewers get started primarily because they then can qualify for accommodation prices on equipment. I know of others who would make incredible reviewers (due to incredible listening skills) but they have their their own system dialed in so well that the last thing they want to do is change it every few weeks with equipment that they already know won't sound as good as what they have.

Yes, it's pretty much a waste of everybody's time - except when something has been overly praised for some reason - anything from politics to bribery. Then it can be very useful in showing that the emperor has no clothes. The last time I remember that happening was when RH was Technical Editor of Stereophile and he gave the Levinson No. 38 preamplifier a decidedly mediocre review. (That was when Levinson was "king" of the high-end brands, and Wadia was able to get into almost every Levinson dealer by simply demonstrating how much better a Levinson system sounded when the preamp was bypassed using Wadia's digital volume control.)
One thing that I think almost all readers want is more comparisons of similarly priced equipment, and in general I think that Stereophile has been doing a very good job with that lately. (Ignoring Larry Greenhill's reviews.)
