Audio politics

"On the whole however I can't argue with the gist of the post and it was a good read, so much so that I feel no need to nit-pick to find something to object to."

Thanks, I needed that.

One way to summarize my current views could be to use a political analysis. I'm certainly not at the P. Aczel end of the spectrum but I'm much closer to him than to Jonathan Valin. Meaning no disrespect to each but simply to illustrate where I'm coming from. If Aczel is the far right of the audio "political" spectrum (measurements) and Valin is the extreme left (esoteric tweaking), then Stereophile is probably center right and TAS is center-left (no measurements). There are of course exceptions in each case. For instance in my example I see myself somewhere very slightly to the right of John Atkinson (joke, ok?), pretty close to REG of TAS (an exception within his magazine). Please don't take this too seriously, some humor is necessary in life.

At the end of the day I believe electronics do sound different but very subtly so if properly designed and reasonably matched. But I think it's of paramount importance to measure them, as does Aczel and Stereophile. An amp review without measurements is to me of very little use. On the other hand I believe speakers and rooms should consume 80% of audiophiles' attention.
