Richard BassNut Greene I think you should just shorten your name to either Nut or Richard BassEar Greene. You attempt to fool the other audiophiles who don't know better by making statements of your beliefs as if they were facts and NEVER ever stating they're only your opinions. For example you state:"There is absolutely no evidence to support the claim that all components sound different (other than speakers)" To which I'd respond, there's absolutely no evidence to disprove the claim that all components sound different. If there was such evidence you'd and the all other objectivists would have posted it by now as evidence of your point-of-view being the correct one, so we are even on that account!
====================================================================
Next you claim that your statement above is very important for all audiophiles, and especially new audiophiles, to know.What's important for "...all audiophiles, and especially new audiophiles, to know" is that you cannot prove your beliefs are facts either. All you can do as an objectivist is state your beliefs, like I as a subjectivist can.
====================================================================
Now Richard you continue what I find as deceptive on your part by trying to convince other audiophiles that when stating your beliefs you were stating factual truths. How do you do this? By implying that subjectivist beliefs have caused "A lot of money (to be spent) based on the (supposed) audiophile myth that all components sound different."Yet as I've stated before EVERYTIME you state your beliefs as if they're facts, these are still ONLY your beliefs. These are NOT proven facts as you'd like other audiophiles to believe they are and you have not as of yet proven them as facts.
====================================================================
Continuing in this vein you ask me to name another field where people (like myself) can claim exceptional skills and never have to prove it (other than the usual "because I say so").Richard I have done a lot more than ONLY claim I can hear differences in audio components other than speakers. In fact I went way beyond "because I say so." I seem to recall specifically stating in my original response to you "You claim you don't hear differences, I claim I do and I'LL BE HAPPY TO PROVE IT TO YOU. Now here's where it really gets interesting. We now see how an objectivist (like yourself) and a subjectivist (like myself) react to an accepted DBT challenge to prove I can hear differences.
What all audiophiles, and especially new audiophiles, should know, is that you have done what EVERY other proponent of DBTs has done when I have offered to prove I can hear differences! You simply ignore my acceptance of your challenge.
I offered you to come to Orlando, Fla. That way we can use my system which I'm intimately familiar with. This is an EXTREMELY CRITICAL part of my acceptance of your challenge because a person MUST BE INTIMATELY FAMILIAR WITH THE SOUND OF THE SYSTEM BEFORE AGREEING TO A DBT. Given that we use my system which I know so well, I WILL tell you EVERYTIME time you change any one component in the system. Whether it's the integrated amp, CD player, speakers, or wires.
====================================================================
Richard you who spout your attacks on subjectivists like myself claiming we are leading others astray by perpetuating your so called "audio myth" of audible differences in audio components. Did EXACTLY what I notice all objectivists do EVERYTIME I accept their DBT challenge. YOU IGNORE MY CHALLENGE OUTRIGHT! You don't even mention my acceptence of it.That alone should show other audiophiles just how much the objectivists truely believe the crap they spout as truth. Richard I now want to turn your question on you. So I ask you to name another field where people (like yourself) can claim exceptional skills do not exist. Yet when an objectivist (like myself) agrees to prove their hearing skills via your proposed DBT test, the acceptance is either: A) totally ignored (like you've done so far) or as I'm waiting for next B) a myriad of excuses (Orlando is too far, to I'm not an expert at setting up DBTs to the dog ate my ticket to Orlando etc.) will come forth as to why my acceptance of your DBT challenge cannot be completed.
Richard your challenge HAS been accepted so either put up or shut up! ANYTHING else at this point will only be you trying to save face.
Oh yes, one last thing. I also noticed you chose to completely ignore my challenge to you to prove to me that you cannot hear differences in audio components! Remember, just saying it won't suffice, prove it beyond a reasonable doubt. For all I know you can hear differences, but just say you cannot. So prove to me that you cannot.
