Second attempt

Maybe I can put it more simply:-

All walks of life whether audio or science has belief paradigms.
These are constantly tested and challenged
There are contentions area
Those that believe opposing paradigms are not easily swayed by counter arguments
Hence: evolutionary theory and creationists, Spooky action at a distance and quantum mechanics, and subjective versus objectiveness in audio reproduction
Science may be able to help resolve(or not) but there will be people who are not convinced no matter what the results are: conflicting belief systems

Further to this: even in formalised constructs to avoid confounders there are things that cannot be resolved (Godel's theorem)

The way forward is to agree what it is we are measuring in Music reproduction and then set up valid testing.

To reiterate though, even if we do this there will still be some who won't agree with the premise of the testing or the results, because it conflicts with their beliefs.

One suggestion has been we measure perception of audible difference in audio components.

I maintain that a DBT may not be the best way in RCT but a cross-over study with adequate washout be done
Valid criteria for perceptual difference would have to be constructed.
This has been done for other areas such as pain.

A a blinded RCT with N=1 can be done. This can be valid. As others have stated non-visual listening would be important, but prolonged exposure can be done to overcome first listen bias, and protracted cross-sampling avoided.
Reviewers to "some" extent do this, except they aren't blinded.

Hope I have made myself clearer.

Thanks again
