And whose morals? Why are so many judgmental jerks so eager to destroy anyone who does something deemed to be offensive? I am certainly not advocating atrocious behavior, but I don't believe a person's indiscretions or indelicacies, ultimately minor failings, justify invalidating an entire lifetime of achievement. People do some pretty weird stuff, get their heads screwed up by fame or power or money. Do they deserve to be ostracized, humiliated, publicly destroyed for making mistakes?
There must be an appropriate reaction somewhere between obliterating condemnation and looking the other way. I am weary of the "me too" syndicate ruining other people's lives and careers, far more harmfully than the original offenses probably could have been. It has approached a public hysteria. There is no mortality involved here, nor are there minors. Grabbing another adult's tit or showing them your dick, while certainly wrong, should not be the capital offense it's made out to be. What's next on the outrage scale? If someone smokes or swears in the presence of their children, will it become chic to ruinously persecute them?
You don't like Dutoit. We get it. Do these revelations that you eagerly advertise here somehow justify your distaste for him artistically? Should this platform be used as a bludgeon to pulverize the man? I do like some of his conducting and recordings, and the fact that he did some bad things, sexual or otherwise, is not enough to dissuade me. I'm not going to melt his CD's, but I would not invite him to dinner.
