Interesting. Yes, the '77 is more upfront or, as many people have described it, the '63 set is more recessed. But on my equipment (a $20k+ tube based system with no metallic drivers), the '77 is a bit more full bodied. Not that either set can be called well recorded. Perhaps all of the tubes in my system tame the sound.
