Yes, I would go with the Karajan 63 set too ( I also have the Lenny and Harnioncourt sets mentioned above in the thread and rate them highly too). So I am just mentioning for the clarification of the OP that the original vinyl box set of the '63 Karajans came out on 1970 ( Beethoven bicentenary edition). Previously I think they were only available as single records. I mention this as the sound of the German pressings is superb and not quite replicated on the digital transfers.
