My 2017 top ten

Of the 140 or so CD's I purchased this year, these are my ten favorites. These are not new releases, but the composers are so obscure that many of you may not have heard any music by them. There are no ad nauseum new versions of Mahler symphonies or critic's darlings. To me, most were a real discovery but a few were second purchases of composers I found previously and liked enough to try again. Not all new names make that cut. It is all characteristic of the period in which it was composed, but interesting and of higher than average quality. The recordings are all excellent, some of them SOTA. Some might not be available as downloads, so those with a hard on for their hard drive cannot benefit unless you stoop to buying a silver disc, and, in some cases, even that might not be easy to get. In my opinion, it will be worth the search and cost. For some reason, I decided to explore more harpsichord music this year, along with women composers. Sorry, you pathetic, leering adolescents, but there are no babes here, displayed on covers or otherwise. In no particular order:
