Home Classical Court

From Perotin to Prokofiev (and beyond), performed by Caruso to Khatia, it's all here.

RE: Well, docw, you may not like Mirga at all, but. . .

We heard Mirga at Hollywood Bowl, cond. Brahms Double and Mahler 1. Kind of breezy, lacking in content and power. Driving. Link to LA Times review, but Mark Swed always thinks everything is great.

She conducted a program w Hilary H. and the Tchaik Sym 4 at Disney, loud driving performance that was fairly good. Not as good as Dude's cond. the apparently disbanded Simon Bolivar same venue. I felt she missed some of the beauty and subtler parts of the score.

My wife complained as did my kid about both the above. Not a good criterion or reason to dislike her, I suppose. She is tiny, cute and energetic, evokes a funny feeling. Just can't adjust to her nervousness. Maybe she is a babe? :) We will see, since she is so young.
