you folks are hard on him. He was Principal Guest Conductor of CO while I lived in Cleveland.
Beethoven Piano Concertos from the 80's, wonderful set conducting and playing. Sound is excellent. Cleveland is on target.
Richard Strauss orchestral tone poems, heard him live, excellent. My CD's are only good, not great. Somewhat boring.
I do remember attending the Martin Luther King annual concert by the Cleveland Orchestra in Severance Hall, 1987 Ashkenazy playing piano and conducting with another artist you don't hear much from, Kathleen Battle.
