Home Classical Court

From Perotin to Prokofiev (and beyond), performed by Caruso to Khatia, it's all here.

Tod und Verklarung is just beautiful in this set...

to pick one highlight. Wagnerian, in the best sense!:-) The accompanying Symphonia Domestica on this disk (CD 3) is genuinely worth hearing as well -- CD 3 is the pick of the litter for me right now (both Boston Symphony Orchestra) -- it justifies the purchase for me, despite other reservations regarding sound quality issues.

Here's a couple of clarifying comments re sound quality:

1. Boston is warmer and fuller.

2. Leipzig is more recessed. Sound is a bit harder/edgier. A slight volume boost versus the Boston recordings helps bring the sound forward a bit for the Leipzig recordings.

3. Apart from what I'll call the scattered/fuzzy Yuja piano, Yo-Yo Ma's solo cello in Don Quixote is spot-on, with no smearing.

To sum up, don't worry about the sound quality in general for this set.
