Home Classical Court

From Perotin to Prokofiev (and beyond), performed by Caruso to Khatia, it's all here.

For some perverse reason, I greatly enjoy late career singers...

that cannot help but avoid the wear and tear of years of use/abuse. Late Billy Holiday, Maria Callas...if the chops are there, the instrument tone is less of a concern, and the struggle has its own appeal. Of course, opera fans want PERFECTION -- so there is an essential tension at play for late career singers.

Netrebko's "Amata dalle tenebre" recent recording is a flaming meteor with chunks burning off of it...fascinating.
