But, is it too simple to state that (clearly) there are objective criteria...

that can be applied to evaluate a piece of music (or, at least, to analyze it), but this may not be relevant to either the enjoyment or dislike of it?

BTW, the statement "I like what I like" has nothing to do with music -- it is a personal philosophy, a pure statement of subjectivity. It works fine with regard to evaluating art or food, but if you think it's OK to get too close to me on a subway platform, the rules change!:-)

AND, it is this "everything is subjective" thing that has led to the demise of civility and clamor of discourse infecting our world today -- in my opinion, of course!!!:-)
