From Perotin to Prokofiev (and beyond), performed by Caruso to Khatia, it's all here.

Your favorite "first draft"?

I recently posted that my favorite "first draft" is the Sibelius Symphony #5 in its original version. When listened to side-by-side with the later final version of work, many changes can be heard, especially in terms of how Sibelius evolves and resolves the developmont of the main theme in the first movement into a climactic resolution (a "profound logic" is a great phrase I have seen applied to this type of thing).

Are there other works that anyone here is aware of that can actually be found on recordings and be listened to that exhibit this characteristic? That is, what are your favorite first version/final version works? Let's avoid Bruckner on this, as it is too obvious -- and, let's avoid completions of works by other composers, as in Mahler's 10th, Elgar Symphony #3, etc.)

I'll try to think of a few more myself and post a follow-up. Thanks!
