The Bruckner Problem: Some care about this...I don't...

Bruckner is a favorite composer and, I suppose, if I added up and inventoried all of the recordings I own or have listened to that I've heard near to every version of all of the symphonies (in terms of editions, not performers). That said, although I can listen very closely and catch all of the "variations" in architecture, content etc. across multiple versions, I am simply not up to being that "analytic" as a matter of course (although I participate in full-on analysis for other things)!:-)

For me, Bruckner is a huge Rothko canvas, and I allow myself to be surrounded and immersed in its opulence and power without too much nitpicking -- although I do appreciate the minute details as they are encountered, I just "let them go" as the journey progresses.
