Home Classical Court

From Perotin to Prokofiev (and beyond), performed by Caruso to Khatia, it's all here.

AND, I'm afraid, that is that....

Further listening reveals that the positive immediate impression I felt with the opening movement of the First Symphony dissipated quickly into a sea of rote bombastic orchestral effects in all the other works I was able to sample. Very little nuance or meaningful development of ideas beyond acceleration/deceleration and soft/loud. The composer has the tools, it just looks like he is impatient and too quick to jump into shallow orchestral effects -- and this is coming from a listener who is sympathetic to the hyper-modern idiom.
