I scarcely know where to begin. I recently decided to venture beyond the magical symphonies of Bohuslav Martinu into his other works -- which, as I am sure any deep fan of Czech music already knows -- are vast and varied. Martinu is considered to have been somewhere on the autism spectrum and, I gotta tell you, that must be some ride. He has a chromatoscope for a mind.
I am knee deep into the chamber works, and I will move next to the operas. My simple recommendation? Filter by Martinu and Supraphon (the record label) on your streaming service and begin the journey!:-)
Martinu "feels time" and "feels tone" differently than any other composer I can identify.
