We don't deal with vocalists too much in this forum, but I recently grabbed a clutch of Elina Garanca recordings, and she is terrific...powerful, great technique and range. She is 45, which (I think) means she is nearing the end of the peak years.
A couple of other "new favorites" who are well past that age include Joyce DiDonato and Sandrine Piau. Now, I am not saying that a singer MUST have a roll-off at-or-near age 50, but the range of the voice normally starts to compress, and tone and flexibility can often take a hit.
