I discovered Freire from his late recordings (past decade). VERY worthy Chopin, Schumann, Liszt, Debussy -- not to mention his recording of the two Brahms Piano Concertos (which I believe Brahms himself composed!:-) conducted by Chailly.Edit: I should have provided more detail. To her everlasting credit, Marth Argerich actually cancelled a string of prestigious concerts to be with her friend in the depths of his illness.
