favorites in my collection and he is certainly on my list of top 10 conductors. Not surprising that he expressed excitement about the material... I think that comes across in how good the performances are in the recorded works. The linked SACD recording of Ravel's La Valse is IMO the best recorded version of the piece. There are others that come close, but none have the shimmer and nuance of Munch leading the BSO.
