Home Classical Court

From Perotin to Prokofiev (and beyond), performed by Caruso to Khatia, it's all here.

RE: Yes - that Bartok album was a rare pre-Dynagroove Leinsdorf/BSO recording

I picked up a copy of Leinsdorf and Boston playing Prokofiev's 5th Symphony, on a Dynagroove LP.

It's a pretty good performance overall, and I don't think I would have noticed the less-wide dynamic range (isn't that another feature? Kind of like CD normalization during the volume wars of the mid-to-late 80s?) unless I read about it on sites like this one.

I really like Leinsdorf's recording of Petrushka with the Philharmonia on a EMI reissue (great pressing!) and his Prokofiev Romeo and Juliet on a Sheffiled Labs' Direct-To-Disc. Stunning sound on that one!

Are we due for a Leinsdorf reevaluation?
