" the Neschling Sao Paolo recording on BIS has excellent sound and comes in MCh, and it's also a fine performance. Still, there are better Pines if you don't insist on the latest hi-res version, e.g., Kempe/RPO or Reiner/CSO in Pines, Maazel/Cleveland in Festivals, and Sargent/LSO in Fountains."
Yes, I wouldn't condemn any of them, save that I have not heard the Sargent.
My advice? Buy them all :-). There really isn't a definitive version (though I thought that the Reiner was for a couple of decades). I must add that the Pappano/Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia is superb. I could add more e.g. Ozawa/Boston and that incredible helter skelter vision of La Befana, not such great sound though.
Of course if one needs Mch the choice is limited.
