My summary of Wagner's "Valkyrie"

Attending BSO concert performance at Tanglewood:
Act 1: Fugitive (Siegmund) sheltered by Sieglinde. For some reason no one likes him: he rescued a woman from her wedding by slaughtering the family (she died too). Mr. Sieglinde (Hundig) related to victims. She has him pull a long pointed sword from a tree. She drugs her husband. They find out that they are long-separated brother and sister, so they have sex.
Act 2: Wotan tells beloved daughter Brunnhilde to protect her half-brother and his son Siegmund. Mrs. Wotan will have none of this adultery and incest and Wotan must let the little bastard die. Wotan admits his children are just pawns to regain the Ring that he had stolen. Wotan cheats and breaks his son's long pointy weapon. Hundig kills Siegmund.
Act 3:
Valkyries ride. Sieglinde is pregnant. Wotan arrives and tells B that because he loves her, and because she was a good daughter and sister and tried to save siegmund he will punish her by putting her into a coma. He reassures her that to keep out riff-raff, his frenemy Loki will set fire to her bed.
