Same problem is present with rock- recordings make you hear high hats and tomtoms like they're metres apart from each other to create a spacious illusion, but we shouldn't forget the origins of the recorded sound.To be honest, I would love to hear a modern remake of a grammophone, just one horn connected to the stylus spinning a mono modern recording without someone manipulating the recorded signals, so to say. I think digital stereo will completely bite the dust in terms of 'reality'.
