Home Classical Court

From Perotin to Prokofiev (and beyond), performed by Caruso to Khatia, it's all here.

As I was saying. . .

. . . accuracy is established by means of a two-pronged approach, consisting of developing a mental library of audible experiences (i.e., knowing what certain instruments sound like in certain acoustic environments) over time, together with the taking more objective measurements of input vs. output (or at least reading about them). The action on the part of the audiophile is to expand one's library of acoustic experiences constantly and to try to correlate this with published measurements where possible (and, of course, it's not always possible). Is this process perfect? No - but I do not know of any better alternatives, many of which, as I've already suggested, tend to lead us towards chaos. We must have agreed upon standards if we're attempting to determine what is real.
