XLR to RCA cable clarification

I checked the Archives, and found the following instructions regarding XLR to RCA:

< If the output is electronic circuitry, then pin 2 to RCA hot/center, and pin 1 to RCA ground. Shield to pin 1 of XLR only.

If the output is transformer based, then pin 2 to RCA hot/center, and pin 3 to RCA ground. Shield to pin 1 of XLR only.> >

I know this is a stupid question, but...How do I know if the output is transformer based? Are there components other than amps that have transformer outputs? I am using a Resolution Audio CD55, and it has three transformers inside--but this is obviously not my area of expertise. The player has both balanced and RCA outputs that can be used at the same time. I want use the balanced outputs to go directly to my powered subs.

I purchased a custom made set of DH Labs BL-1 interconnects from the Dealer/Mfg of my subs. At the time I ordered these, I did not realize that there were two options of termination, so I just provided the dealer with the pinout configuration of my CD55. Even though instructions I received from Resolution Audio went on to describe the configuration stated above for electronic circuitry, I did not include these instructions with my cable order, because I figured that the only pertinent information was which pin on the XLR was positive.

At any rate, I received the cables, and sure enough, they are terminated with pin 3 to RCA ground, instead of pin 1 to RCA ground. Is it okay to use the cables like this, or should I send them back to be reterminated?

Thanks!
