it appears that removing just four screws on that wall plate would allow a more definitive answer once he got a peek behind it ... maybe some high quality coax was used etc.
his wall plate appears to be pretty nice, no reason to think it wasn't a quality installation, and it's a bit surprising to see you discouraging a chance for some self discovery ... I'm of the opinion that most people are audiophiles each to a lesser or greater extent ... we all like good sound
