I've always used 14 gauge cords for everything in my system. I see no
reason to go to a larger gauge, given that my system runs on a 15 amp
circuit wired with 14 gauge romex. I am, however, willing to be convinced
if someone wishes to bring some larger gauge cords to my house for me to
test.
I do hear the benefit of better quality PCs. The AQ NRG4s I use sound
significantly better than the generic cords they replaced. When I hit
the lotto, I will have 2 dedicated 20 amp lines run to power my gear.
I also think higher quality outlets are desirable. I use Hubbell
spec grade outlets for my system. They're just all around better than
the 69 cent specials originally installed in the house.
I also find it very interesting that PS Audio has given up selling their
own power cords and have started flogging AQ wire (of all kinds). I'd
love to hear their reasoning for this ...
