Currently using ultra-cheap Profigold cable between preamp and active subs.
Bored as I am, it would be nice if I could spend some time making a cheap (!) DIY pair of subwoofer interconnects.
I wonder, due to the limited range of frequencies, what would be the ultimate cost/performance ratio cable sold by the meter - and if I should buy something like a classic coaxial cable, or a "balanced" cable - and if so, how I should connect the conductors (= should it be any different than a full-range interconnect? For example, could I connect both conductors on the signal pin, and the shield to ground on both sides?)
Also, is there any benefit in using copper RCA plugs - or can I get away with cheap but decent brass plugs?
I need a total of roughly 25 feet (single run cable) and of course 4 RCA plugs - did I mention it has to be CHEAP? I'm currently unemployed due to COVID-19... I'm thinking more pro Vandamme or Sommer cable rather than entry-level VanDenHul...
would 75ohms coaxial cable work? I have some in a box, from QED.
