No, I'm not confused.
You're the one that brought up the "modulated signal" aspect of this. It seems you're the one lacking the basic intelligence here.

I've outlined the straightforward aspect of the signal monitoring these sub-woofer amplifiers perform. They've been designed this way (generally) for decades now. 'Very simple passive circuit (three resistors usually) in concept and implementation.
I suggest to Google a few schematics for these amplifiers and do a little learning.

The OP was asking a good, simple question. There was no need to confuse him with irrelevant nonsense regarding back-EMF and modulated signals.
