Buzz through balanced IC

Hi, all.

I have a question. I have long balanced ic's going from my preamp to amp. I bought a pair of tubed monoblocks that have rca input only.

I ordered a balanced to rca adapter from the same manufacturer of the balanced cables. I knew that was going to take a week or so and purchased an adapter from Amazon made by Monoprice to use while other adapter arrives. That one is one meter long whereas the one made by the cable maker is 8 inches.

Here is my problem: With the Monoprice adapter there is almost no noise from the speakers. Slight buzzing with ear to speakers but not audible from my listening seat about 8 feet away. With the better adapter, I get a buzz that is audible from the same seat. I hear it through the tweeter.

Any idea why this is?

Thanks,

Mamoru
