I have the newer version (black and white plug covers) enroute and have the opportunity to get the older version (purple and black plug cover) from the same seller at a good price.

I called A+ and the guy told me the newer version has a faster rise time but that they should sound the same. He didn't say they "would" but "should". So that got me wondering.

Anybody here with experience between the two versions care to share what, if anything, they heard?

Your thoughts would be appreciated.
