Unfortunately there is no simple answer. Audio is trade offs and wires may be the worst of the bunch since they seem to be the least understood technically forcing us to try different variations. Your $150 figure seems to show you know that. I currently use some cheap Dayton wire in short 3 foot lengths which is unfortunately no longer available.
If you separate positive and negative, not just separate but with space, you decrease inductance which could roll off the high end, especially with thick wires. I did that with Fulton Golds for years.
