Interconnects, speaker wire, power cords. Ask the Cable Guys.

really can't tell

The several experiments I've done with bulk wire or cable directionality have been inconclusive. If there is a difference in construction between ends of a finished cable or cord, the proper orientation can make an improvement, but the wire itself, when direction is reversed, yields only minor differences that are difficult to qualify.

There is usually a slight difference which, to my ears, fades away after passing current for a while. Same with passive parts in a circuit. Some claim there is a definite preferential orientation, but I've never heard it last more than a short time. If the wire/component is reversed again, the process repeats: initial minor difference, then gradual change back to original characteristics. At least that's what I've heard. I think people might get fooled by that initial little deviation so they believe one way is better.

There are so many other more important factors. But if your arrows and/or printing align properly, it probably will make you feel better.

Peace,
Tom E
