Of course insulation affects the sound. It is one of the many characteristics of a cable, IC or speaker, that affect accurate transmission. My realization comes from dozens of hours of research, hundreds of hours of building, thousands of dollars spent on raw materials and commercial products, and too many hours of comparing cables.
The topic was skin effect, but the OP misunderstood what that is. Now we're down the rabbit hole, so please let it drop.
