Home Cable Asylum

Interconnects, speaker wire, power cords. Ask the Cable Guys.

There is some point to it all, however

...you may not have the same budget-type setup forever, and a fine cable like that Lifatech will serve you well for many years.

I looked at the KableDirekt units on Amazon and they appear decent but as I said earlier, all the Asian-made mass-produced plastic TosLink I've used sound about the same- nothing to recommend one over the other- so maybe buy a £3 generic from eBay UK. A middle course would be an Audioquest, recommended solely for their excellent build quality; find a used (plastic) one for £10 or so. I'm not being deprecatory, just realistic.

I'd recommend you invest in a future-proof, quality unit for an additional £70-80 - slap down that platinum Mastercard for a Lifatech and know you are listening to a fine thing. My axiom is "No cheap-sh*t in the Bear's ears." And, you did come to the real serious-case wing of the Asylum where the differences are very subtle and you're often operating far past the point of optimal cost/benefit. I resemble that remark occasionally. Best of luck.
