I worry about the cat though- last year he managed to chew through Bearette's AC power cable to her Apple laptop- There was a sickening screech, simultaneously with the power flickering, followed by the smell of burnt cat fur. Not kidding. Took the poor little feller a few days to come out from under the sofa.I'm a bit more chary about electricity... When I was a kid I built my own bass amp (Class AB2 using 6146B output tubes- I reckoned it over 100W), using a monstrous power transformer from a big old tube-type color TeeVee set, 650 VDC, IIRC. I was working on the amp one day and shoved my hand against the hot lead to one of the filter capacitors that I'd forgotten to discharge. The ensuing convulsion literally blew me across my basement, about 10 feet. I wacked my head on the concrete wall and must have screamed. My poor mother almost has the heart attack meant for me. I still have a scar where it cauterized my thumb.
