Home Cable Asylum

Interconnects, speaker wire, power cords. Ask the Cable Guys.

I've been using Audioquest's spades for decades.

They're available at retail either gold- or silver-plated for $6 per bag of 4. They're made of relatively soft copper and are directly plated with no intermediate metal (such as horrible-sounding nickel to make them shinier). These fit 1/4" or 5/16" posts and 10g. wire. Here's a pic of the gold ones; mine are silver plated.

I use a regular spike-in-the-back-type wire crimper that seems to me to do a fine job of compression-welding the spade's barrel to the conductors.

I have a surplus of these silver-plated versions (including the red or black sleeves) that I'll sell you, or any other member who wants a few sets, for $3 per 4 plus $2 postage.

E-mail me at jeffreybehr(at)cox(dot)net using 'AQ spades from AA' if you're interested.
