I use an audio dharma cable cooker. Most notable difference on ICs, then speaker wire and least on power cords. Cooking times required are fairly accurate as noted here:

You can also use this on passive parts like big Teflon caps, inductors, etc.
Cooking lowers the noise floor, improves the clarity and in the process improves the sense of space and sound stage. I would say that regular burn in through use is not as effective as the audio dharma. I know because cables I owned for 3 years and hundreds of hours of use still showed improved sonics.
