I keep my interconnects short 8 foot speaker cables Quad ESL.
As far as power cords I've only one pair long enough to use with my Quads. Too lazy to try the one quality pair of short (five foot) power cables I own.
I asked about power cables on the AA planer page and got some rude know it all answers. I asked here some time ago but few here have ESL's.
I use Auditorium speaker cables and like them very much. Yes, wire can make good changes. Have no idea why but it can very clearly be hear.
