For loudspeaker cables, the DC resistance and the inductance is of far more importance than controlling the skin effect. There is a lot of measurements around supporting that.

Many manufacturers claim to control the skin effect by using several smaller gauge unsulated strands. Not only does this try to solve a non existing problem, it actually introduces several new ones (reflections, capacitances etc.).
