Hello, I purchased a Shunyata Venom 3 and a Shunyata Diamondback Platinum about a year ago to put on my digital source componenets (Integra DPS-10.5 Universal Player and Audio Research DAC7). I tried both the Venom 3 and the Diamondback Platinum on the Integra DPS-10.5 and really preferred the Diamondback on the Integra compared to the Venom 3. The Venom 3 may be a little more detailed and faster than the Diamondback, but the sound was leaner compared to the Diamondback. The Diamondback had more body to the music and was more romantic, which draws you into the music.
I also tried the Venom 3 on my B&K AVR505 Receiver. One the B&K I could tell that the Venom 3 was trying hard to deliver the required current because it caused the bass/mid bass to become "twangy". The 15A Venom 3 is really not designed for high current/power applications. I ended up placing it on the Audio Research DAC7, where it did an admirable job.
IMHO, the Venom 3 is a nice power cable and certainly an improvement over stock cords, but if you are patient and save your money you can get even greater benefits from going up the Shunyata line, so to speak. I recently traded the Venom 3 in for a Shunyata Copperhead. Copperhead is now on the Integra and the Diamondback went on the Audio Research DAC7...the system just keeps getting better with every upgrade.
