For reasons I can't explain, I have noted that 8 feet seems to be the optimum length for loudspeaker cables. I even noticed when I dropped down to six footers the sound changed slightly and not for the better. Too bad too, as I could have saved some bucks.
Therefore, I don't recommend 3 foot runs. It could be that distancing the amps from the loudspeakers that extra bit helps with isolating vibration to the amp chassis, who knows?
Since most speaker cable manufacturers favor and do their testing with this length there must be
an empirical explanation floating around somewhere.
I would like to know the answer to this myself.
