I think it's the same as using a ferrite bead at the end(s) of the cable -- except unlike ferrite, the ERS doesn't saturate. Actually, Stillpoints cautions agains using too much of the stuff, especially in IC's and inside chassis because doing so could actually attenuate some of the audio high frequency (?)
