From my experience w/ Von Schweikert & Wharfedale speakers, biwiring was subtle but noticeablly better ( depending on how you set the cable & jumper, either the high's were more transparent or the lows had more weight & presence ) & with the shotgun bi-wire you had the best of both.
Check out used : Zen Satori $350-400 or Hologram $525-600
Harmonic Tech Pro 9 & Analysis Plus are also a good OFC choice in this price range
