I had a friend (who is also a licensed electrician), run 4 gauge wire to a subpanel into my listening room. We did 4 (20 amp) circuits to 4 individual outlets (which were nice copper Furutech outlets). All wire, subpanel, etc. was over $600 and I paid no labor. So if you have a longer run and aren't getting inside help, $1K wouldn't surprise me. BTW, it was worth it.
