The values given (for an 8 ohm nominal speaker load, halve the R and double the C for 4 ohms nominal) are good for a wide range of situations, and is in the nature of a bit of overcompensating, as the values are for stabilizing an unstable power amp with a highly capacitive speaker cable.Values that are more in the nature of a nominal compensation, would be a bigger R, and a smaller C, say 22-47 ohms, and 0.1 to 0.047 uF.
