Forget about the bare wire, unless you plan on cutting off an inch or two every now and then to deal with the oxidation; (not to mention the uneven contact, cutting strands, and possible shorting.)Go with the spades as they give a very close to gas tight fit. With good binding posts you can really screw them down and you wont have to worry about them working loose. I always say screw as much as you can without having to be concerned about breaking anything.
