Re: Cables for Audio Physic Loudspeakers - Avanti III

Avanti,

Hi, I am a Tempo IIIi owner. I've been through three generations of wire. Starting with some old Tara Labs RSC Master (gen 1) which was tonally accurate, dynamic, but too hard. Next I used Kimber Monocle XL, which was very nice but the amazing detail and soundstage depth you get with any Audio Physic speaker (and even more so with your beautiful Avanti's... I envy you!) was slightly blurred. The overall sound was wonderful, however, and the combination produced a sound very close to what I remember from the ProAc's I have heard. As of a few months ago I am now using TG Audio HSR speaker wire which has proven to be absolutely spectacular. This silver wire conveys all of the soundstage, detail, and presence as deep, wide, and tall as your other components will take you. It has a full sound, not so much warm as just "full", which I have found to marry really well with the Audio Physic emphasis on soundstage and detail.

Because the Audio Physic sound tends not to be as forward as, say, ProAc or as warm as some other speakers it doesn't surprise me that wire like Cardas matches well or, as I have said, the TG Audio which is quite full sounding. Certainly inherently "lean" wire would seem to be not the best for the house sound of Audio Physic speakers.

Good luck! Bill

p.s. I use a Tact Audio M2150 digital amp, and have used the Kimber and TG Audio on that system, but also heard the Kimber and Tara Labs on my older system using a Classe Amp/Coda Preamp/Arcam Alpha 9 CD.
